Calling all those technical / specification gurus......

Which, if any, later (post 89) 1.3 Maestros had a 5-speed 'box fitted as standard and was this 'box a VW or Honda variant?

Many thanks,

Richard

I'm pretty sure that I'm right in saying that all post 89 1.3 Maestros had a VW 5-speed manual box fitted as standard.

Not all of them did. Lindz's 1991 1.3 ex plod car has a 4 speed box (a low ratio one at that).

The Maestro Clubman was fitted with a 4 speed box as standard. I am not even sure if the 5 speed was an option.

I think LX models came with 5 speed boxes as standard however.

I have had my 1991 Maestro 1.3 500L van from new with a 4 speed box (plus reverse), and hadn't heard of a 5 speed box.

All 1.3 Clubman models came with a 4 speed box, a 5 speed was an option, i'm sure, or it might have been just on models with a catalyst. The LX came with a 5 speed box as standard. The Special which was available until 1990 I think (G reg) came with a 4 speed box. All 1.3 vans came with a 4 speed box with "van" ratios, apart from Ledbury models which had a 5 speed box. All Ledbury cars had a 5 speed box.

I believe the 1.3 Special had a 4 speed box with 5 speed being optional. Mine now has that. Plug and play, if you like.

The Maestro MK2 Clubman (1990 - 1992) will have had the same set-up.

The Maestro MK3 Clubman (1992 - 1994), being the last models, I don't think had 5 speed 'boxes as an option. As RD said, all seem to be 4 speed. This may be another reason why my Rodacar has a 5 speed 'box from the van model.
