Upoon a phone call from my parents (after the visit) I was phoned to say that i have a leak. So I argued the point of no I dont , there is no leak on my drive way. Been visiting again oday and it seems apparent I do. Quite an amount of fluid has leaked. Smells like diesel and seems to becoming from the area around the the back axle. Only seems to happen when facing up hill! Not sure if this is coinsidental or wether actually is. Thick oily fluid but smells diesely. Any help guys would be appreciated. Brakes seem fine by the way. Have been told if it has too much fuel it could be coming from the fuel tank over flow...and i did fill the monty up yesterday! :banghead: HELP

I think you've answered your own question, if you filled the tank up and the car has been standing in the sun it may well be leaking from the filler tube/ petrol cap. Have a look in the filler tube area/petrol cap, it'll probably be wet/smelly. If it's from the cap, you've put too much in. If it's from the filler tube, there might be a split in the rubber. Either replace or don't fill the tank up as much, particularly in the summer months. As a biker, diesel spills can be bad news for us and I'm sure you don't want to have a smelly car if there's a split in the tube. It may well be just a coincidence of hot weather, full tank and the way you parked but worth checking all the same.

I had this problem with my maestro and it was the breather tube that runs alongside the filler tube (Don't know ehther Monty as the same). It was a rubber tube that was perished, replace tube, problem solved. You should be able to see it quite easily if you get underneath, tho it's not easy to see whether the tube is persished. Some have a metal tube which might be rusty.

I only discovered this problem when I filled right up to go on a lonmg trip and the fuel poured out for a couple of mins, rather scary!

I had this on my petrol Maestro after filling right up on a hot day last year. Petrol was leaking from the fuel cap, down the wheelarch, and dripping on the floor from just where the rear of the sill finishes. That was with a brand new tank, filler neck, all petrol pipes, cap, everything. On looking under the car all the hose connection points were as dry as a bone. In that case, the expansion overflow system did as it should, and I guess that is what yours has done too.
