Hello there, getting final stuff sorted for this Africa trip now. Can anyone tell me whether head bolts on the turbo diesel are re-usable (even as an emergency measure), or is it a case of once used they have to be chucked.

Cheers.

I re-used mine a few times with good results. I perhaps overtightened them a fraction just to be safe though.

yes you can use them over and again if they hav'nt been overtightened, as this stretches them and makes them scrap.;)

I re-used mine. No mention of them being stretch bolts. As long as they have no corrosion i'd be happy to re-use them once or twice. Mine were in excellent condition, but still exercised caution when torquing them up, the final 90 degrees is very nerve racking as it feel like they are going to snap off! But through cleaning of the bolt holes and wire brushing the threads, followed by light machine oil, meant they screwed in with no problems.
