Are there any plans at all for MMOC events in the North West as I live in the Manchester area.

Not that I know of. Most events are in the Midlands and pretty easy to get to. You're welcome to pop over sometime to compare Maestros if you want though :)

I'm going to a couple of events later in the year and see RDGelder on a regular basis, so if you want a lift with us just shout. I'm thinking about the BMC Day in August for starters, then the AGM in November.

Mebbe if the Northern Classic Car Show (used to be at GMex) ever gets resurrected we could do a stand there? This was a good classic car show, and is sadly missed.

How about we have an informal Northern meetup sometime for a pub meal? Anyone want to suggest anywhere for a nice drive out?

Sound like a good idea! Its always fun to meet up with people who share the same interests. :)

I'll buy that. I can aquire an o/s drivesahft off you as well, Maria.

No, I think an informal meet is a good idea. Do we want a bit of a drive as well? How's about the Hark To Bounty at Slaidburn, via Dunsop Bridge (used to be a Service Halt on the RAC, very picturesque and olde worlde), that's a good run into the Yorkshire Dales.

I am sure me and the partner (E_T_V) would meet up, if its somewhere up north. Yorkshire Dales isn't too far from Sheffield. As long its after the 23rd as we are touring Scotland in the car until then.

Not in george ( the maestro) unfortunately, he doesn't like motorways too much. :)

So would anyone be seriously interested in a meet up. The idea has gone a bit quiet over the past couple of days. I know i would like to meet up with a few people if anything could be arranged. There are some nice places quite close by that would make for an interesting day out.

Anyone else want to put forward any suggestions?

Someone suggested on the Old Forums a while ago, a Maestro/Montego Convoy...
Maybe a tour of Manchester...
F170 GGT's ready to go already.

Thanks, but I hardly ever see my gorge F170, maybe twice a week...
All the photos were taken earlier on this year when I first got him. (It is looking a lot better now!)

Definitely interested in meeting up. In a short while I'll have all my evening courses out of the way (and hopefully the weather'll be a bit better!) and should have some more free time. Weekends aren't great for me due to the racing schedule.

more photos definately needed! Perhaps you could do some with a difference. EG, your car on its roof, or the engine on fire, or perhaps a photo series of "what happens when you start the engine and there's a spud up the exhaust!" ? :-) hehe, only joking! would be quite amusing though dont you think - but dont try this on your cool car, try it on a ford, or a tin can impression of a car!

I can do a photo of what a Maestro looks like when the bonnet has flipped open on a racetrack and trashed the winscreen :( And then of course there's the famous flying pic! Would prefer some happier pics though!

Oh, the racing schedule for the Maestro is on the site in the events section, and on www.fullthrottle.co.uk Next outing will be on 28th at Thruxton near Andover. There will also be TRUCK RACING!!! :D

i can do a picture of a maestro crashing into and indeed demolishing wall at 90mph! and no, it wasnt me & yes the car was a write off - sadly!

Did you say truck racing? I know where I'll be on the 28th! And it's the Bromley Pageant in Kent/SE London the following day too. Another weekend spoken for.

I'd have thought that Thruxton sort of defeats the object of having a meet in the North. Go to as many rounds of the MGOC as you can anyway (because they're always very entertaining) and have another meet aswell :)

SCENIC RUNS

If anyone is interested I know all the best scenic lanes around North Wales so if you want to do a day run around there this summer let me know.

There are a number of superb scenic runs (mainly on quiet scenic lanes up mountain passes etc), I could do of varying lengths, an example is below

The route would be roughly to start at Corwen on the A5 at about 10.00 am then I would take you to Vyrnwy Dam / visitor centre and later Wales highest waterfall at Pistyll Rhaeadr the superb lanes to the finish at Llangollen at about 18.00

This route would be ideal for North West members.

Let me know.

Keith

PS There would be no charge for the above but there is no guarantee I would be in a Maestro myself. I have a Maestro diesel non - turbo which is off the road at present, although there is nothing wrong with it, I went to France and Switzerland on holiday 3 yrs ago in it and it ran faultlessly and I don't want to sell it!!

Being a (lapsed) member of the Greater Manchester Police Motorsports Club (GMPMC) which radio-marshals national Rallies, I'm familiar with the roads around Clocaenog Forest and the Sweetlamb stages, as well as other minor roads in North- and Mid-Wales...

Come on, North West members, are we gonna go for it? Mebbe the last weekend in July? As long as there is a good pub lunch in it...
