Oil capacity- Min to Max

Hi,

How much oil should it take to top up the 1.3 from the Min to Max on the dipstick?

I'm sure in the manual it says 0.4 litres, so as it was towards the bottom of the 'min' notch I put a pint in (0.568 litres) and it's now only about a quarter of the way between the min/max...

So.... either I measured it wrong, or it was a lot more empty than it was letting on :eek: :confused:

I presume you wiped the dipstick before 'dipping'? Was the car on level ground?

The oil takes time to run down to the sump as well, so leave it for a while or run the engine and then check it again. Perhaps the sump is an unusual shape inside so the first bit of the dipstick takes quite a lot of oil, and then just a bit more to get it right up to the maximum.

Yup, car was on level ground. Checked it the following morning and it was the same level.

Put another pint in last night and this morning it's about 3/4 between min and max! Weird.
