Very technical - advice needed

The 'chrome' (read cheap bit of shiny tin) backing has come off one of my door mirrors - luckily I found it.

It was obviously stuck on with a small amount of adhesive, so I shall re-attach it in the same manner.

Any suggestions as to whats the best sticky stuff to go for? Bearing in mind it's sticking metal to plastic?

Hellfrauds do a glue to stick interior mirrors back on, which is meant to bond metal to glass, apparently it does work but I haven't used it myself, might be worth a go?

hm, yes, apart from the fact the nearest one is 10 miles away and I work another 8 miles in the opposite direction......

You could use bathroom silicone sealant or any RTV or silicon gasket sealant that you have lying around the garage. I think the original stuff was a sticky black tar like substance, a bit like guttering sealant.
