Theres a Maestro on E-bay thats being broken for spares.
I seem to remember that was a recent thread from someone looking for help/advice in fitting PAS to a 1600cc "S" series and asking if anyone knows to a car with this fitted.
This car is advertised with PAS, so it might be a good lead for someone.
I'm not clever enough to post a link but the i typed in "rover maestro" into the search engine and the item number is 2443950400

You would think that he could be a bit more polite about advertising his stuff, don't you think?
After all Maestro/Montego owners aren't normally timewasters are they?

True enough. I get your point.

I've mailed the man for some parts but he hasn't got back to me yet

A bit OTT with the "don't bid for the car or I'll leave neg feeback" attitude as he could get shut of it in one go as a whole a lot easier rather than have a $h1t load of parts knocking around that he'll never sell

Yeah, that is a little OTT but the bloke is nice enough - I've spoken to him on his mobile about this car.

Btw, don't bother asking about the PAS parts or the front wings! He may have a PAS pump going as that was the only part I didn't want...

Sorry about that :)

Btw, I do believe that his auction is contravening eBay rules - he's telling you not to bid and also asking you to contact him outside eBay. A little cheeky if you ask me.

Yeah I enquired about some parts from it. The bloke didn't reply straight away, but next day had one waiting in the inbox.

Was very helpful. Unfortunately parts were a bit too expensive for me.

Apparently it has a rusty floor and sills.

I thought that bit about leaving negative feedback for bidding was quite strange. The whole point of ebay is that you bid for the items. If he wants to sell the parts he should itemise them and list them separately.

It would be easier to sell the whole car as it looks in very good condition. From the other comments here, though, it looks like he is under the impression that he will make loads by stripping the car. :rage:

It looks like he is trying to avoid paying the seller's charges to ebay by using them to place a free advert.

The bloke has got back to me about the central door locking motors and bloke seems ok woth friendly emails but wants £10 + p&p each, personally I'd rather live with the intermittant problem for the time being I think.

I think he thinks he's going to make a mint from these parts as they seem a little overinflated to me, I could buy a whole Maestro for £20! lol

Yeah I do agree, in a way the bits are too expensive - I'm paying £100 for the PAS stuff but the engine mount is about £75 from Rover so I guess it's worth it in my case.

If I were you I'd offer him £10 for all the solenoids and tell him to get back to you if he's not had any better offers. 10 quid is better than nothing.....:)

£100 for the PAS, would it not be cheaper to find one in the scrapyard to steal it from or even better find a rusty one for £20 which you could steal all the the parts from?

Yes I think the man is charging rather too much for the parts!

Cheers F153, yeah I might email him back and make him an offer and see what he says, I'm sure there may be plenty of parts he'll be left with.

£100 is not a small amount of money, especially for second hand parts, but just try and find a Maestro with VW box, S-Series and PAS in this area. Infact it's getting rather difficult to find any decent Maestros at all..:(

The way I figure it is that the parts are actually probably worth about £50 and the other £50 is paying the chap to remove them and pack them - it's gotta be worth it because that'd take me about 2 hours at least. My girlfriend would tell you that's £50 well spent!

Oh well - see if you can haggle with him - I did and succeeded with the two wings that I'm also getting.
