HI , I have to do some paint work to my diesel van. I have the paint code which is FNQ (this is what it says on the vin plate) but tried to have some made up but no one can get made up for me. so my question is what do i do? Does anyone know if there is a similar yellow on the shelve which may come close? AA YELLOW:rolleyes:

If you are the guy from sheffield then there are a couple of good paint places local that'll make up the colour to match the original paint on the van. They might have the paint on file, but I'm guessing that the austin-rover code was produced specially for the AA. I'm sure one of the paint places will be able to assist though as they can match any colour and if you are lucky give you the formula/recipe to keep for future use.

I believe AA Yellow, British Telecom Yellow and British Rail Yellow are all one and the same. I can't seeing it being anything too special to get hold of, considering the number of business and local authority fleets Austin Rover must have supplied to that used yellow as their base colour.

Yes the guy from sheffield, tried sinemaster, halfords, road and rally but no joy. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Tried land rover yellow which is (AA yellow) but looks dayglo yellow compared to the yellow on the van. :banghead:

I have found some codes on the internet for British Telecom they are (561 or LRC561 or 584 or LRC584 does this make sense to anybody?

You'll have to ask a paint shop if the codes mean anything to you. Also bear in mind that the paint on the van will have 10 years of fading so the colour may be correct. Try comparing it with the underside of the bonnet or somewhere else that hasn't faded in the sun.
Try Sheffield Refinishing Services or Rotherham Refinishing services SRS and RRS for short.

Not sad at all mate, I've had the same thought many-a-time :D
In fact, how about magnetic decals, then you can have AA or BT whenever you feel like it!?

Yes a thin lizzy fan. I would also like it to go back to the original condition, it would not take much work as its in great nick apart from a few rust spots on the rear arches. I NEED THE PAINT THOUGH.

Further to previous correspondance on this subject I can confirm the AA Yellow colour code is ether LRC295 (ICI autocolour code 7GP6B), FMB (ICI autocolour code 6HT7) or FNQ (ICI autocolour code 6HT3B). LRC561 and FNP are called Highway Yellow and are more orangey goldie shades as such.
Sad little life, mine....
