Just to let you all know that the 'juggering' has now officially stopped! Its been fine for about three weeks. Last night my mates and I went to Liverpool to a rock concert. My car never missed a beat!! In no particular order, i've listed the things I've done to fix it, just for reference:

Checked plugs and leads, replaced ignition ecu, replaced temp sender, cleaned crank sensor, WD40'ed under the rotor arm & sprayed various connections including throttle pot. Repaired small air leak in vacuum connector (the one above the throttle pot).

The cleaning, spraying and air leak repair was done on the same day. All efforts before that didnt work, so i guess its safe to say the cause of my problem was cured with a rag, insulating tape and a can of WD.

Now i'm waiting for the next problem.... untill then, I'm motoring happily again!

I'm glad you got it sorted. I knew it had to be something simple as the EFi's rarely go wrong.

Agreed... The only thing my father's EFi needed now to restore proper idling and emissions (at idle - to pass the test) was actually a good cleaning of the throttle body and some more parts. Now the 220k miles seem to have gone off these with all the dirt :)

I think it was more likely to have been a poor connection, probably the one on the throttle pottentiometer. Often just disconnecting a multi-plug then reconnecting it can clean up the connection and effect a long-term cure.;)

Glad you are running sweetly again:)
