I have a 2.0 turbo diesel which I have fitted to my series 3 land rover. I have tried many times to start the engine but to no avail, there is always air in the fuel system; no matter how long I bleed it for. I was wondering if anyone out there knew of a technique to effectively bleed the fuel system, as the land rover was meant to be MOT'd in time for me to learn to drive in, two years ago! I much appreciate any help.

check all the fuel lines and conections are tight and not drawing air threw them and try filling the filter up with diesel and undo the the deisel pipes on top of the injectors to check fuel is at the injectors
i found easy start helps em start but they do sound a bit funky when when they fire up on it
aslo you could try a tow start saves the batterey and engine gets cranked alot fastor

Most likely air getting in before the fuel lift pump. Try temporarily plumbing the fuel line into a can of fuel and see if this fixes the problem. If it does then the air leak is somewhere on the landy side (fuel pickup, fuel line or the connection to the lift pump).
