Today, the weather being a bit warm, I opened the sunroof (tilted back , rather than fully sliding horizontally) if you see what I mean and now I can't close it. It's an electric conversion that was put in last year and it worked beautifully then. Is there a manual overide somewhere? I've tried turning a large nut just under the plastic cover which houses the switch, but nothing happened. If I can't fix it, it will be a dry days only car for ever!

We had the same problem last year with the Countryman, we thought a fuse had gone, but it had'nt.

When you pull the plastic cover for the manual over-ride, and the big bolt you see, there should be a smaller hole within this, you need a Allen key and you turn it right or left to open/close the tilt function. We still had the kit in the glove box.

I think if you turn the big bolt that is for the normal opening and not the tilt function.
I think this usually happens because they stick over the winter months.

Hope that helps

Thanks. I'll get the allen keys out in the morning and I'm sure the problem will be solved. Nice to think I can use it in the rain again.

There was a definite electrical clunk when the switch was operated so I know the fuse is still intact. Thanks again.

Try pulling/pushing the glass while opperating the switch.

The plastic gears within the gearbox may have worn and are not meshing properly anymore. Remove the gearbox first and look for damage. Turning the big nut can cause damage to these gears. You can find a replacement not only on Maestro/Montego but also MK 1 Rover 200's (The wedge shaped one with the stumpy boot).
