Hi all. I'm a bit of an interloper reaaly. Hope you dont mind.
I am rebuilding a 1972 classic Mini and want to stick with the A series (bored out 1275) but also want to use a 5 speed box.
Enter the Maestro.
Does any one have any pictures, drawings, dimensions of the A series Maestro engine with the 5 speed box?
Also what sort of power will this gearbox take? I am aiming to get about 100bhp out of the 1275.
Any info would be gratefully received.
Thanks in anticipation
Gary

The gearbox is stuck on the end of an A series in the Maestro I am afraid.

It is also a transverse installation (just like a mini) and with the gearbox on the end there's no way your car is wide enough to fit it in.

If it did fit (which I don't think it would), it'll take a lot more than 100bhp. The 1.6 race maestros use the same gearbox and they are 130+bhp

Thanks for the replies people. I know it will fit as I know of a Mini pickup and a Mini van that have them in. Also the front of mine will have a one piece carbon fibre front with no inner wings. This will give more available width.

Are there any photos of members cars engine bays of the Maestro 1.3? Have had a look in the galleries and they nearly all seem to be external body shots.
Thanks

Thanks very much for the photos, Good of you to bother for a non-Maestro problem. I am a member of my local Mini club and I find them just as helpful.
That said - could I be a real pain and ask if you could photo the bellhousing/gearbox from above, the engine mountings both sides and a shot or two from underneath showing the sump and gearbox.
The Mini I mentioned earlier in the post has the carbs at the back of the engine so unless he has 1 forward and 5 reverse gears I am puzzled by the install. I am trying to contact the owner for info.
One again thanks people.
