Had the miss-fortune to break the windscreen in my Tandy Camper recently.
It's one of those 'spider web' designs, so needs replacing.
Was thinking of going for a bronze tint top, I think it would look the part. Have had two quotes; £125 & £293. Has anyone else recently had a non-insurance windscree job done, and got a better price? If so, by whom.

Last quote I had from Auto glass was over £200!!!
I use RAc as the absolute Max is £120 all in for tinted glass and new seals.
They even had the earlier chrome strip windscreen seals, when i was last in.

Autoglass were the ones who quoted nearly £300, and said their engineers would only replace with the same as they took out! I rang them and they asked loads of questions; what's your name, where do you live blah blah. Must have been on for 15minutes. I asked if they couldn't just give me a quote for the glass, but no....
The cheaper one; just said what I wanted, they quoted me!

Check what you are offered. Some screens have shallower black bands at the bottom and are unsuitable for Montego dash cars as such. Once fitted they allow too much dash "cardboard" to be seen. These might also not have the black mirror mounting pad area printed on.
It happened to me...
A good make to specify is "Guardian" for bronze-on bronze top tinted windscreens.

Was the 'black band' thing due to the glass being fitted too low in the hole?
On my montegos, one was fitted quite low, whereas the other was fitted quite high!

No, it was 15mm thinner than it ought to have been, no screen printed dot/fade out effect to the side and no mirror pad area either.
