Hello, I just wanted to thank you all for being there. I am so lucky to have found your amazing site.

My first ever car was a montego clubman estate , which had done 175,000 miles when I bought it. I was the laughing stock of mechanics up and down the country in that magic car... new radiator in Swindon, new clutch in Cornwall, new wheel arch welded on in Hackney, new master cylinder after the brakes failed near Reading...I soldered the headlight wire after driving around with a paintbrush stuck in the indicator arm for a month ...then after another mot failure, told by my mechanic to get a nice japanese car, I found a countryman, which I'm trying to keep on the road. It's only done 75,000 miles, but in that hot weather last summer it started cutting out on the way to Somerset, and that got worse and worse, until after the humiliation of bunny hopping all the way to my dad's funeral , i decided to get it sorted.
You have all been so friendly and generous with your knowledge. Your site is an amazing resource for someone like me, working my way through the Haynes manual, and told all sorts by snotty garages who think montegos are a joke....you are too good to be true! Thanks again,
Emily

1994 montego countryman estate (very poorly but fingers crossed...)
