Now i know what you may all be thinking, Topgears gone mad, insane, totally out of control. But...
Even though i've had maestros ever since i was 16, learnt to drive in one, and they are fantastic cars, under-rated by the press and all that have never drived one. The VDP is not only comfortable, refined, and fast.. with all this going for the good old maestro, im afraid the time has come where i move on from Maestro driving.
Over the past 6 months my career as really taken off, and im afraid i need a car with a little more pizazz, a car with a little more business approch. I dont like the way the maestro is looked on as a rust bucket, but im afraid even the shiniest VDP doesnt have the right image in the business world. Id love to keep my VDP, and get another car, but i havnt got room on the drive, and it would bring the number of cars in the household to 7!! So, its just not practical.
So, basically my 1.6 Vandenplas Maestro, F reg, with 95K on the clock may be for sale shortly, its only got small surface rust on the offside front wing, but i also have a spare wing to go with it. The cars in silver leaf metallic and hurricane grey, shiny. New exhaust, fairly new tyres. Inside is immaculate apart from only a slighly sagging roof lining. and basically thats it! How much would any of you be willing to pay for this? oh, and its also got 11 months MOT, and 6 months road tax!
Answers on a postcard! cheers.

No you can't get rid of it. Maestros are respectable cars :D
In terms of price, shove some piccies up to show us the faults.

I thought this once, but being me, even if I were one of the royal familly, or maybe the Prime Minister, I would have a Maestro for the sake of it.
As management, I would still keep it, even get another as a buisiness car, quite simply, dont let image and other peoples views make you change your life and your preferences. You may be different for having a Maestro, but people will know you for it, if it became a joke that you had one, it may even work to your favour as you will stand out a bit more? Pizazz? Would you rather have a shake yer bottom renault thing than a Maestro, I think you would get more pizazz by sticking to your guns and not being a sheep! Only an opinion, DON'T SELL IT!!!!

And there we were all hoping you would bring the VDP to the Xmas Party in Oxford. The more the merrier.
So what kind of work do you to demand an executive car then TopGear and how come 7 cars in the household? (Sorry am being nosey :))
Wish my career would take off, i am still trying to secure a good graduate job.

Sorry, I love Maestros but I've got to say I appreciate where topgear's coming from. If you're in the kind of job where your car is as much representing the public image of the company you work for as you are, then I'm sorry but you just don't turn up in a Maestro. We all know they're good cars *despite* their bad image, but when your image matters, then no, you're not going to visit potential clients in one!
Hope it goes to a good home

you will remeber us a.m .... after maestro
if it is a good job you will be able to keep the maestro as well ,and if the job does not pay that good.., so you can keep the maestro you need a better job:eek:

I admit to having the only Maestro in the car park here...and I know it gets looks. Bottom line is, I don't care. It's a darn sight nippier than the euroboxes here..:)
Then, I'm not exactly a "class" person, I love cars for the fun factor. I've had 2 offers in the last 3 months that I've looked at..
1 Bright Orange 3.0 V6 Reliant Scimitar Automatic
1 Austere Black Volvo 740 Hearse, Automatic.
Either I would happily take to work, and hang the impression. My car-deal with it. The hearse even came with a free coffin...now THAT appeals to me. "The StiffShifter"... "PC Dead? Call the experts..".

I would have a VDP if
1) I was allowed
2) Had a nice cosy garage to park it in
3) Earnt more money

I get fed up with people telling me my cars crap and i should get somthing good instead, weve all heard it before i suspect. every so often i think should i get somthing different, this thought usually lasts about 5 seconds before i start thinking ill never sell my maestro, I want a second car (probably an mg maestro) or somthing else from the 70s or 80s but its got to be different to what everyone else likes or is driving.
If I continue in my current job, get my apprenticeship finished and pass my HNC, I should get a company car (somthing crap like a mondeo probably :banghead: ) but that heap of crap company car can stay on the road off my drive cos ill need the space on the drive for my best cars!
at the end of the day it comes down to how good u are at a job not what you drive.
whos the real idiot?
is it A) the maestro driver / enthusiast who runs a car thats cheap to buy and cheap to run and doesnt depreciate
or is it B) the fool whos always telling you your cars crap and you should get one like theirs that costs more to buy more to run and is losing money like its going out of fashion?
answers on a postcard plz
