I have got to put an exchange alternator on Xophie my 1984 1.3 Maestro. How easy/difficult is this job?

It really is very simple mate, have you got a Haynes manual for the 1.3 maestro?
If not, get under the car and have a good look. Its pretty much self explanatory.
Go in equipped with 10 and 13mm spanners/sockets and wrench (from memory) and a short crowbar or similar to prize the alternator away from the engine to gain tightness on the belt when refitting.

Got the alternator off this morning and took it to collect exchange alternator which came minus pully and fan, pulley and fan did not fit as my old alternator was a Ford branded one and the spindle was narrower than the prper Maestro alty spindle .... so now it is wait until Monday!
