Hi all,
I have water ingress into the wheel well in the boot.
I can not see any obvius leaks so I was wondering:confused:(HMMMM)is there a known problem here?
I do not fancy laying in the boot with a torch.
Cheers
Gordon
PS can not attend dinner but will be thinking of you. ;)

Is it a sunroof model? If so, the drain pipes lead down to the boot - look behind the peices of carpet right at the edges of the boot behind the lights - you should see the black plastic pipes dissappear through the metal and out of the body underneath.

Or it could be a duff boot seal, as the panel gaps on the boot can be horrendous. (I reckon I can fit a small child in some of mine!!), but funnily enough evenb though the gaps are huge it isn't that noticable.

May be the bottom seal on one of the wee triangular windows - common cause of rust on the top of the shock housing just under the carpet where you can't see it!

If there's rust on the offside - this is most probably due to mud jammed between the metal and the top of the fuel filler hose.
Always a good idea to get you hand up there and clear it - caused a *massive* hole in my 1.3

Nononono. It's the rear light clusters. All water draining rearwards off the roof goes into the gutter which goes down the sides of the boot. It then falls onto the rear light clusters and hopefully past them. Any defect in their sealing to the boot (maybe it's rusted out there), and all the water goes into the boot and straight into the wheel well.
Drill some drain holes in the bottom of the wheel well as well.

rear light lens is severly cracked(no white light showing) so sunroof seems best option but will check out the other ideas especially the filler pipe.
For those of you who help reference my 'hunting' problem. Thanks. It seems fixed now, changed the switch behind the throttle pedal. Was upside down in the drivers seat:rage: for nearly 1 hour just trying to fit the retaining clip. NEVER AGAIN (well till the next time). It took nearly 200 miles to settle down but it is fine now.;)

Hi!
On my car the cause for a massive leak in the boot was some rust on the bootlid, around the window. Causing the windows glue/seal to get unstuck and leak... In fact I need a new rear hatch, but the temporary solution was to tear of the outer rubber strip around the window and apply a large quantity of black silicone filling the gap around the window. Does look (nearly) like original now

The thing that gets me is that the boot carpet is not wet:confused: :banghead:

Although it was my rrear window leaking, the boot carpet wasn't wet, too. The water ran down the insode of the hatch and then the rear closing panel...

Also check to see if there are any missing grommets etc in the boot. perhaps the water is getting in from below rather than above.
