Hello people. Firstly I would like to say that I do not own a Maestro, but a Metro of the Rover 100 variety.

I have been looking at trying to fit a digi dash into it out of a Maestro as having looked into the wiring of both the dials in my car, and that of the digi dash it's basically the same bar about 3 wires! I want to do this to make my car somewhat unique in Metro circles!

Now I have a few of questions that I hope you can help me with!

1, Does anyone know what the speedo/transducer drive ratio is on the VW gearbox?

2, Normally the dash is fitted with the trip computer, but in order to fit it into my car I cannot use it and I have to remove it. Is this possible (I'm not bothered about any voiced warnings or knowing what mpg I'm doing) or will it mess the function of the dials up?

3, On the dash I understand that there is a 'dimmer illumination control' wire that goes into the back of it from a potentiometer (what Haynes says). Will I still be able to get illumination of the dash by just not using this function and just using my car's standard dash illumination control from the sidelight circuit?

4, Will using the speed transducer from a R200/R25/R400/R45 for use with the R65 gearbox in my car be ok for the speedo unit? I ask this because people on here have said that using the same type transducer for some of the PG1 gearboxes causes a 200% overread.

Thanks for your assistance!

Doesn't the metro/100 use a Peugeot 'box? I think that will be your biggest problem, to be honest.....

Yes the R65 is a part Rover case with Peugeot internals. That really shouldn't be too much of a problem if the speedo drive ratio of the VW box is similar to that on a R200, as the total error will be around 8% of the speedo in my car if it is 100% accurate.
