Hi All,

As winter draws ever closer i thought last weekend id check and clean my plugs and distributor cap and rotor arm on my 1.6 vdp. i cleaned the plugs, put them back.. car still fired up nicely. I took the distibutor cap off cleaned it, cleaned the rotor arm without taking it off, as i have not been able to get it off before, it was seized in there. So, put the distributor cap back, started the car. nothing, just coughed then did nothing.. and just would not kick into life! I thought that it must be something to do with the distributor cap, so spend the next hour racking my brains as to what was wrong. everything looked fine! Then i had a thought.. What if the rotor had got moved slightly? as i did move it a little and it seemed very easy to turn. I investigated, and the rotr arm moved very easily.. then it came off!! not just the rotor arm, but the rotr arm and a little rubber bit at the end! I thought i was really stuffed, but with the rotor arm back in, i could get a nice spark. I realigned the rotr arm with Piston 1 by feel and trial and error. put it all back, car fired up!

But.. how come the rotor came off in such a way? Whats this rubber bit at the end, and is this a bit serious that it could be moved and come out so easily? If you can, let me know... cuz i havnt got a "scooby doo!" :-)

Cheers.:)
