Hi Tony,

your thoughts about the Montego Digi-dash having back lighting is correct, three small halogen bulbs to be exact, not sure on power rating or size/type needed, but I know a man who can, a friend of mine runs a complete Digi-dash setup in his 1990 Monty, will ask him ASAP and reply with the relevant info

This is a common problem with Montego digital dashes (not that Montego digital dashes are that common)

I met a guy at Gaydon once who had a B-reg Montego and he had trouble with the illumination. The Maestro digital dash is different and has conventional bulbs.

I know it is a daft question, but have you checked the rheostat?

Same as me, with the internal bulb on my MG1600 Digi dash. Do you think I can find one to work in that trip computer? Can I :censored: ! :banghead: :banghead:

I'm tempted over the 6 week schools break to change the digi dash back to analogue, while I work on some LED illumination to replace the bulbs as the flipping trip illumination light has now gone off ping, along with the dip headlamps indicator..:censored:

Then I just need to check out why it's developed a liking for "Low Oil Pressure" warnings every time it starts up..sigh..

If you're lucky it will be a faulty oil pressure sender unit located down the back of the sump, but easily accessible. Make sure you get a replacement from Rover (part GPS133 - under a fiver) before taking it out as there is every chance the old one will fall apart as you undo it! You'll need a bigger than average spanner for it - 20mm I think, but may be 22.
