Hi everyone. My 1st X on any "thread" so hope this works. I have a 1600SL F reg Maestro, Hurricane Grey 2tone. The alternator got oil in it from a very slight leak & has died.Said dead item is at front of engine on driver side. I beleive different ones were fitted at different times. Also certain cars in the Ford range & maybe others are the same. What is the part no. (pattern parts?) & what other cars have same ones, no one local (Tunbridge Wells in Kent) seems 2 know. Ta sas xxxxx

Have you thought of dismantling it and cleaning, rebrushing it and putting it back?

The alternator fitted to your car will be a Lucas A127/55.

They appear on several other models, I know they come on some Fords. Best thing to do would be to go to a scrap yard with your alternator, and say have they got one the same, and just compare mountings. If you mention its for a Maestro and your talking on the phone, the person on the other end is likely to just say something along the lines of "we haven't had one of those in for years" and put the phone down.:banghead:

If you go down, and let them find one like it, you'll have more luck. A scrapyard alternator will cost about a tenner.

the '/55' bit of the part number refers to the 55 Amp output capability. they also make a 65A version that you could probably use. It might tell you on the alternator somewhere what output amps it will provide??, as long as it doesnt go below 55 you'll be ok.

This should be a really easy part to locate.

I bought very cheaply at Partco. It was an alternator for a '77 Daimler and I saved over £100. Partco might be able to do you a service exchange on the Lucas already specified above. Just a thought.

Hi,

I have an alternator that I took off a low-mileage Maestro 1.6 and if you want it its yours for a few fuel tokens. The only problem is getting it to you. I can get quotes for the postage or you could collect if you're ever in the Cambridge area.

Just drop me a PM if you're interested.

Cheers
