After no responses from the classifieds and on eBay (People from Africa wanting to buy my car and cash their cheques dont count) My car will make the same trip as so many before it to the scrapyard today.
:(
If anyone wants an MG interior (Seats/door tims) you are welcome to them.
Pats of it will live on for many years helping to keep another Maestro on the road.
RIP Aggie. July '94 - October '03

Well, its all done. Its quite a sad feeling seeing your first car being driven away on the back of a truck! I dont ever want to do that again! I feel quite bad for getting rid of her - but it seemed the only option left.
Goodbye Aggie...

Ok, let me get this right. If the car was in good condition bodily and mechanically, whey are you scrapping it???
Would it not have been better to sell it for, say, £150 quid?? Or does that make no sense? Seem's a shame that quite a young car has been scrapped. If you'd announced you were going to scrap it a few days before you did, i could have found a home for it!

Ooooops! Ho hum.
The car was on Ebay at £100 for 10 days, no-one bid on it. :(

It had been stated on the forums that if no one came forward to take it, it would be scrapped - i ran out of options in the end as i had neither the money or the space to keep it. Just be happy in the knowledge it went as a gutted shell - none of the parts on it were wasted.

I know the feeling. Getting rid of my last one was a wrench too..OK, rotten to the core it was...but seeing it picked up, stuck on a flatbed wagon, and then having the crane arm shoved through the roof to hold it was NOT nice.
Irrepairable, stripped except for the autobox...and I was still attached to it.

Scrapped!
Go away on holiday for a week and a decent car gets scrapped. There was nowt wrong with it. We saw lots of maestros in a scrapyard this week, that had no reason to be in there apart from their age :( Yours was younger than poor old george.
Even if you couldn't of sold it, I am sure we could have found a home for it.
What parts did you actually retrieve from it out of interest?
Any of the electronics or just the seats?

Sorry to hear you had to scrap it....but photos do seem to make cars look 10 times better than they really are. The car surely could have had another 5 years left in it though? L-reg is quite old but not ancient after all. If it was bubbling around the door pillar seams and if you could poke your finger right through rot on the sills behind the rear doors - then I would understand you scrapping it! I'm in a bit of a dilemma myself into whether I should run my car 'into the ground' to get my money's worth out of it or just keep it in tip top condition and I'm going to well........do both!:)

Better the devil you know.
That's why I'm sticking with Monty. Ugly but 98% sound, and the smoking has subsided by 90% since sorting the carb 2 weeks ago...
Not on the lookout, but if a Ledbury 1.6 came up I would have it (sadly they were only 1.3s)... anyway I'm "in too deep" with Monty, having owned him for 7 years, met Wendy, courted, had 3 stepkids, married and widowed... and, b*gg*r me, Monty's still there, just like Christine...We've been through too much...
Wendy was besotted with Monty so that's a double whammy to getting rid...
I think Richard Gelder's found his 'devil' - the old car had, shall we say, 'corossion issues'... no comparison to surface rust on a 5 year old Maestro...

Hmmm, it shouldn't be on the road. It would be a miracle the state the car was in after it was shunted! :( :o
Mind you, knowing the dodgy ba:censored:ard that took the car away, there is a possibility that part of the car is on the road somewhere... :(
