Hi All,

I noticed this week that occasionally on my E reg EFi, the starter motor makes a buzzzzzzzzz'ing noise when I try to start the engine. When this happens, I switch off, and try again. So far, the starter motor and the engine starts as it should.

Is this something I should be worried about?

I'm no expert, but it sounds to me like your solenoid is on its way out, probably just wants a bash with a hammer (!) and it should be ok again, I may be proved otherwise but the solenoid is the little cylinder mounted on the starter motor, it was always this we used to hit when this hapened with mum's yugo (!!). I believe solenoids can be bought seperately, but we just kept hitting the yugo cos it wasnt easy to get another starter motor!!

Happens to mine sometimes, and has done for a while. Your starter is slowly dying, but it's not likely to go for a while. Keep an eye on Ebay for a replacement.
