Car is not for sale yet, but would anybody on the Forums / the Club be interested in the following car?
1984 A reg MKI Austin Maestro 1.3L in rare Oporto Red. 86,520 miles, has had engine reconditioned 20k ago. Car recently took part in the Manchester M Car Rally / Convoy over a 100 mile trip. In original spec. Needs some attn to sills and rear wheel arch, but otherwise not too bad. Car has to go to an enthusiast / member of the MMOC who will take care of her. Sorry to see the car go, but it will have to be done sooner or later. :( £250 o.v.n.o.

Steve, how can you?
Get rid of one of those Specials and use the parts to repair the 1.3L! Everyone needs a Mk. 1 Maestro in their collection, if possible. How will you possibly live without a plastic-bumpered Maestro?
You know it makes sense!

F153 couldn't be more right. The 1.3L is a far superior car to the Special - everyone should own one (I have had two!). The mark one dash is also much better than the later model, and don't even get me started on how much better the gearstick is...!

Don't see how you come to that conclusion, but hey, everyone has their own opinion.
F153 - have already started to use parts from SRY to repair the L.
May sound silly, but I actually prefer the metal bumper Maestro over the plastic ones. (except MG variants...)

I know this is an old thread and all, but on my travels this afternoon, I found a base model maestie for sale. £150 they want for it. To be honest it's very tatty inside and out, but it's a J-reg and has 87k on the clock, and T&T'd. Is this good mileage? anyone interested, perhaps in parts?

Hmm, it seems that oporto red wasn't rare on Maestros here in Germany. I remember that nearly every MkI was sold in that colour. At least I just know about 5 existing MkI Maestros here and 3 of them are oporto red, the others are MG's...
Cheers,
Alexander
PS: I actually did not like that colour back then, because it was so boring. I hoped my LE would not be in that colour before I went to look at it, but then...

Actually, EN 1 belonged to the Pilkington family (as in the Bike shop in town, now gone [I think]) who loaned it to the Council for years, but they then decided to sell the reg no EN 1 and offered it to the Council for, well, more than they would pay. Bury Council never owned it. They instead forked out on T6 BUR which I am sure we will all agree is even better then EN 1 (he said sarcastically).
No doubt if they *had* owned EN 1 they would have sold it, but that's what happens when ya lose over £5million on the BCCI scandal of 1991...
