View Full Version : Weber Parts/Any For Sale?

This is a sort of strange 2 part question, I hope someone will be able to answer!!

I reconditioned (ahem!) my Webers to go back on the MG a little while ago, and at the time I did bodge it slightly! Now the car is running again, I would like to sort them out, obviously! They do work, but I broke one of the vacuum adaptors that screws in to the bottom of the base underneath the float chamber, by screwing it in too tight and making it snap (don't even know my own strength!!). That's all fine and well, but obviously this means I can't set them up anything near properly, and as a result the backfiring and popping through the carb is nothing short of spectacular! I also seem to have a strange situation with the chokes, where on the carb where I didnt snap the adaptor opening the choke makes the revs rise, and on the other carb it makes them fall!

So my dilemma is this:

1) Where can I source this adaptor I have broken? The only place that refers to it is the haynes manual, I can't find it on any weber diagrams on the net, so I am assuming that it was an add on for the Maestro.....

2) Does anyone just happen to have a spare set they would like to be relieved of? I wouldn't mind if perhaps the right hand one is dodgy, just so I could mix and match to provide a working pair! I know they are out there, I saw some on ebay not long ago, but I always miss the last few hours of the auction, where all the action is!

Thanks for your help, other than the box linkages this is the last mechanincal part of the car that needs sorting!

Ricky.

It might be noted elsewhere, but, running the risk of asking a silly question, is your engine an R, or an S series?

It's an R series, a fact that annoys me as much as it pleases me, has anyone tried to get bits for these?? Whenever I get parts from the motor factors they are always cheap but epsecially in the case of rocker cover gaskets and other cork bits theyve shrunk where theyve been on a shelf since the year dot!!

Got some bits and pieces hanging around in the garage that came with our race car, and may have the bit you need.

Drop me a PM :)

Tell me about it! Those cork gaskets just don't fit. I have happily managed to acquire an old (unused!) asbestos one which I am going to fit at the earliest possible opportunity. My approach to the R series engine (and mk 1 dash) is to stockpile parts when I find them - don't wait until you need them! I have loads of bits waiting for the current part to fail (this guarantees that they won't!).

You should remain smug about owning an R series though - it is far superior to the S series in every possible way.
