Hi everyone. I have just bought a secondhand electronic dash (thanks Wayne) and have fitted it to my 1.6 HLS maestro. It all works ok, but can someone clarify for me whether the brake fluid warning light should come on with the handbrake is on? The h/brake light comes on, but not the fluid light, and it always used to. When the ignition is first switched on, the lights all light up so the bulb is ok, and as far as I can see the wiring is the same as it was for the previous dash as far as the brakefluid light goes. I've tried pressing the little button on the master cylinder but the light still doesnt come on. Also, when does the low fuel light come on? I have run the fuel down until it shows two red bars and I'm not sure if the fuel light works as it used to come on quite early. Thanks for all your help.

I think the brake fluid warning light should come on as well, I'm almost certain it does in my MG, but I will check and make sure later when I go to fix it some more........ :(
As for the petrol light, I will quote from my HLS owners manual:
"The fuel tank contents are indicated by the illumination of both red and green graduations, each graduation indicating approximately 4.5 litres, 1 gallon of fuel.
As the level drops the GREEN graduations progressively extinguish, until only the two RED graduations show.
Continued lowering of the fuel level to the point where 5 litres, 1 1/4 gallon remains results in the single RED graduation flashing and the voice unit issuing the message 'LOW FUEL'.
Further lowering of the fuel level will cause the ORANGE fuel level warning light to flash in unison with the graduation and the voice unit will issue the message 'WARNING, LOW FUEL'."

Hope this clarifies the situation, sorry for any typos but I havent typed that much for ages!

Ricky.

1. Pretty sure it doesn't come on with the handbrake although it does on the non-digital dash. I remember thinking it was odd when I got a digi-dash.

2. Petrol light comes on VERY late - if you get down to one bar, the bar starts flashing (nice touch, I thought) and it comes on after that. Probably just as you grind to a halt 20 miles from the nearest service station. I think the lady will tell you about the fuel before the light comes on.

I think the lady will tell you about the fuel before the light comes on.

Or, several times will tell you WELL in advance, after you've not long filled your tank. Or coughed. Breathed. Anything really...depends what mood it's in.. ;)
