That is an unusual day to have your car registered. I was working mine out today, and my car was registered on Friday 8th July 1994. Nothing unuaual about that one...
:p
I once had an escort that was registered on New Years day. I think it must have been the same arrangement as people who pick up their new car at 00.01 hours on the day of a new registration letter, it does happen!

My dad got a couple of cars on new years day. A Mini on 1/1/65 and a Talbot Samba on 1/1/83. He was meant to get a 205 GR on 1/1/84 but it was late...
New cars are registered on a V55 handwritten by the Dealer (I believe - could be talking absolute rubbish) and Car Dealers open on New Year's Day if it's a 'normal working day'. So I'd guess this is the date of first registration?

You have quite a late L reg Maestro there RD Gelder! I work mine out to be Wednesday 23rd November 1994. For any Rover Maestro the details should be in the Owner Information and Service Record book.

What date did the Maestro go out of production. I have definatley seen some M-reg ones about, so does this mean production continued into 1995?

The final production date for M reg maestros remains a mystery to me. I have heard, however, that the final few Maestros were built in early '94, registered in '95. The rest had been stored at the factory since '93 until they were sold and registered as M regs throughout '94 - which probably is the case with my car. I don't see M reg maestros as being particularly rare but survival rates for the cars may turn out to be very low as most of them are workhorses (as mine has been until I got my hands on it). The bloke I got my leather seats off had a BRG M reg TD and he had given it the VDP treatment too! I have seen lots of M reg maestros in the recent past - most are rusty however, I have to admit.:)
