That's ridiculous. A number plate which costs half a F170?

I'm going to order one! I just need the dimensions of the 'Vitesse' style rear number plate i.e. the oversized one that went on 216S models and some minis etc. as you can order any size you want in mm.

I know....but I'm after the Vitesse style rear plate as I prefer the shape. I'm in no hurry though!

If I bought those plates, could I get the "stick-on" type ones?

You stick the plates on using inch wide badge and trim fixing tape. This is the double sided black foam tape with the green backing on either side and is basically the same stuff as the pads that hold the interior rear view mirror onto the windscreen. Austin Rover specified this method of fixing plates when the cars were new. Don't for goodness sake drill them, you'll spoil them. When surfaces are cleaned properly, this tape sticks like sh:censored: to an army blanket, but you need to accurately line up the plates first.

Righty - dokey. GGT's rear one is original, and is "stuck" on the tailgate, but the front one is a replacement which is screwed on.

I have a pair of "Frame-a-plate's" on my van. You just screw the frames onto the body, and slot the plates into the frames. Simple!;)

Right, posted my order today for the following plate. Note the border is now in Burgandy like the original Rover ones. (Except they didn't have the giant Rover logo on the side ;) )
Have "MAESTRO 1.3 SPECIAL" as bottom text, which not only looks good, but tells there is something wrong should the plates ever be stolen and put on another car. ;)

RDGelder reckons they are "boy racer" style plates. Anyone agree?

 :)

Nah! Around here, a boy racer's plates are more like lettering in a font that you sometimes have to squint to see, and the obligatory St. Georges cross at the side.

Saw two works vans today, both of which had the (I hate to say this...ahem) Manchester United logo on the left side of the plates. Eeewwww!

Font on my plates are (will be) Standard UK.

Illegal tho!

I thought it was the law nowadays for the company that produces the numberplate to have their postcode on them.

Or am I wrong, someone please correct me

I have just been onto the site you got them from Steve.

They are based in Northern Ireland, so thats how they get round the rules of not putting postcode on the bottom or asking for your V5.

I went to all the effort of making an M&MOC branded/themed plates and sold 2 pairs, one of which to me and the £30 set up fees which I paid from my own pocket.

Legality was never considered an "issue" and no one has ever pulled me over, failed me on an MOT, asked me to remove them, or given them the blindest bit of notice so far as the legality of them is concerned. I have been followed by numerous Police cars and nothing has happened, and I work in an MOD establishment where the MOD Guard service and MOD Police can soon vet your car, and despite that no one has ever batted an eyelid on them.

The supplier is UK based, and they ARE legal, as are sold for off road/display use, and this disclaimer gets them through, if you put them on your car its your descision, so go for it Steve. Not everyone stays within the confines of the law, to the letter all the time, myself included, but if someone is really going to make an issue out of having "Maestro & Montego Owners Club" written on your number plates, then they are really being petty.
