View Full Version : Headlamp Relay???

Hi im due to start work on my VDP on a b plate, but the headlamps only work on side lights, but they do work on full beam, but no dipped beam, I have checked fuses, but is there a headlamp relay???? I have checked for one in the relay area, but nothing.....

any ideas???

there would , logicaly , be a relay to switch between circuits.. depends if the maestro has 3 seetings.. (like skodas where they have 2 dash switches + 1 on stalk) , or the dip beam go off on the maestro when the main beam go on..

If go for switch personally though..

If its the later type stalk, with the thumbwheel switch on the front of the stalk for the headlights.

Start by removing the steering column cowel, check that the three fly leads from the stalk of the switch are still soldered onto the terminals on the base of the switch. It is sometimes the case that one of these will snap off after so many times of the stalk moving to indicate etc. If one of them has come off it will be obvious where it has come from, so just solder it back on.

If all the wires are there and connected, then replace the pink dip dim relay located next to the fusebox on the right hand side in the top corner.

This should solve it, HTH Rich
