Okay - I've now purchased a new (71,000 miles new) TD Maestro and hope to modify it. My ultimate target is 130bhp, but I suspect 115bhp may be more realistic. At these figures the torque will be pretty good too I suspect.

I've tried to get as much info. on tuning diesels as possible, and got a couple of turbocharger books (though they unfortunately don't specifically cover the differences in diesel cars).

My thoughts are:

1. Large intercooler to reduce charge temps
2. Increase boost on standard turbo to max
3. Adjust injector fuelling to take advantage of increased boost.
4. Bigger turbo? Currently uses Garrett T2 so could go to T3?
5. Increased fueling via the use of bigger injectors? Not sure how this will affect low speed running though.
6. Water injection to further reduce charge temps and so enable increased boost? Whilst I've heard differing reports (some say WRC cars use them so they can't be crap whilst others say that they're a poor band aid excuse for not having a decent intercooler), can't do any harm.

I did think about nitrous but it's a daily driver and I need insurance to be manageable. Anyone got any comments, ideas or suggestions? Please, don't come back with "surely 81bhp is enough" or "why bother when 100bhp is attainable via adjustments to the standard setup". I'm really after the most powerful TD Maestro in the world!!!! (Megalomaniac? Moi?)

I'll keep you all informed with photos as work progresses if you're interested.
