Right there is a XMAS party/dinner planned for this year :)

DATE: 7th December

Location: OXFORD

Time: Yet to be decided but probably dinner at about 2pm. Plenty of time for people to drive home in the evening then.

Venue: I have just rang this pub in conjunction with the following
http://pub-explorer.com/oxon/pub/longwalloxford.htm they are going to send me a brochure and some forms. What they need to know is a rough idea of people who will be attending.

Obviously the venue needs to be booked now, as we all know how quickly places become booked near the festive season.

Convoys from North and South can also be planned for the day, but can be decided on at a later date.

Also there will be a prize for the "best dressed car". Yes you heard me right. "Best dressed Car" We want to see all these maestros and montegos in their best xmas decorations.

Right so the only thing i need at this moment is who is interested and who would be able to come?

Can you PM me or send email me if your are able to come or think you can possible come, so I can gauge numbers. By all means let ppl know you are coming below, but dont forget to PM or email me as well.

The only thing needs to be said now, is I hope we will have enough numbers to make it a success.

Aye, go on then. Anyone want a lift from round these parts?

Should be a good do. Good to see others asserting and comitting themselves to something like this. Our 'M-Car Meet' was a riot, I can't see why this couldn't be even better.

Anyone ringing Terry (from the latter 'Meet') or shall I do it? Tell me someone, I've had a bad couple of days at 'work' and am excusing myself from making decisions... :rage:

Ring him, Rich. He was at ours yesterday and mentioned he hadn't managed to get hold of you - I think he'd like a chat :)

Beaker
16th September 2003, 22:23
Yes ring him up rich, i am sure he would love to come.

e692wtt
16th September 2003, 22:42
Right, that's me told... will ring his number tomorrow and leave a message on 1571. Just didn't want to tread on other peoples' toes, that's all.

Will let you know the response, but will guess now that he'll be there!

Sounds good, and you're right to include me! Don't forget that with a bit of luck the details will be sorted out in time and we'll be able to publish something in Monstro because it would probably be a club event rather than a local meet, which could have any sort of effect on numbers. There's already enough of us to make it viable.

Well, if I could make it, I'll be probably in one of my 'yotas again. I'm using a lot of my spare time now for Lynz but she won't be ready for then, not by a long shot.

How's about we of the north-west meet at MacD's as per the M-Car Rally at 9 for 9.30 or 9.30 for 10 (absolute latest) then head down the A628 and meet Tony then on down the M1 to meet E_T_V & Skatiechik, then other Members as-and-when at Junctions and Services.

Honesty calls me to admit to not ringing Terry (but I have had some 'calls' on my Mobile, as was Terry's call re the M-Car Rally), so I *will* make a concerted effort this weekend - not got the sh:censored: t flying this weekend that has, somehow, pervaded the last working week...:rage:

Then via the M1, M69, M42 and M40 (guess who's not got a map to hand - corrections gratefully accepted!)? Via M62, M6, M42 and M40 Gaydon is 140 miles and Oxford approximately 165 from home (Bury), so mebbe 3 hours tops???

M170 RFA, are you on? Has to be better than the M6 through Brum... Be a pleasure to meet you on a derelict, windswept and rainswept MacD's car park in East Manchester again...

We need an article in Monstro again, methinks. Jonathan???

I'm more of a last minute person for making decisions! I should be able to make it though.:)

Beaker

If you are planning on going down the

A628 then A616 to the M1 famously known as Woodhead Pass, you'll actually drive past our house.

So that route is absolutley fine for us! :)

OK, I have now spoken to the pub in question and provisionally booked us a table.

The venue is for those who have forgotton or those who have not expressed an interest.http://pub-explorer.com/oxon/pub/longwalloxford.htm

The date will be 7th December and the table is booked for 2:30pm.

The dinner will cost £15 per person and the menu is as follows,

Starters:
Soup of the Day served with half a baguette
Chicken Liver, Bacon and Cointreau Pate served with half a baguette
Breaded Mushrooms
Fresh Honeydew Melon

Mains:
Christmas Turkey, Yorkshire Pud, mini pork sausages wrapped in bacon, stuffin, roast and new potatoes and mixed seasonal vegetables.

Vegetarian Dish of the Day

Possible other options 8oz Sirloin steak or Salmon fillet. Brochure says terms and conditions apply on those choices tho'. SO will have to check what they are.

Desserts:
Xmas Pud with spiced rum cream
Fruit Pavlova
Profiteroles
Ice Cream Dessert.

The bad news is the pub requires a deposit of £5 per head for everyone that wants to attend actually confirm the table and not just provisionally book it.

So I will require a cheque off everybody. Those who have already given me their definites I will PM you with my address to forward a cheque to. ( As i would prefer not to advertise my address on an open forum) I will put a deadline on cheques to be forwarded to me by the 31st October if that if that is ok?

Those of you are still deciding if you want to come, it will be great fun, so please PM me or email me to say yes you can come. I believe there is also an awards ceremony planned for the day.

Also lets not forget their will be an award for the best dressed car in xmas decorations :)

Lets hope i havent left any information out :)

Just to make ppl notice about Xmas Party again and remind people who have said yes to send cheques...Pm me to ask for address if you have lost it.

Anyone who hasn't already said yes pls do, it will be great fun. The more the merrier, and a chance to meet people with similiar interests.

Steve, remove the blank cap, the wiring for GGT's cigar lighter will be hidden behind, may need to remove the whole of that panel with the rear screen and fog light switches in, just pops out if you get a screwdriver behind it. Get a lighter from a scrap car, and dont forget the wire for the illumination! May need a fuse in the board for it, not sure which position it is now, but it will be on the diagram!
