Will be there, but watching rather than spannering thanks to a combination of lack of funds and a certain MG blowing a hole through the back box on Sunday...

Your links don't seem to be working :(

The link in the initial post works now :) .

(I won't mess with Phil's signature, but the 'sponsor a race car' link works while the other one doesn't - I suspect it's been superseded by the link in his initial post, as it's not worked for a couple of months.)

A very enjoyable (if slightly damp!) start to the 2006 season! Andy Campbell's estate is just awesome! Some pics online here (http://maisie.accelerator.org/Silverstone260306/)

Sure :)

Some better weather would have been nice, for me, and for the camera which doesn't like rain and is a bugger to keep steady when it's so windy.

It's nice to see an estate back on the track.

Sorry I couldn't make it at the weekend, I didn't fancy getting a soaking. Very much looking forward to Pembrey/Snetterton though.

Nice pictures.
Whats the story with the estate? Surely he must have a disadvantage striaght away due to weight or does it run in a seperate class.
What with all the 70's stuff- Is that a regular "support" series at these meetings?

I suggest you try and come along to one of the Club's get-togethers at racing coming up in the next few months. Its awfully good fun! It's not just Maestros and a Montego (as you can see!).

The Montego estate, raced by Andy Campbell last years class B champions (in a maestro), competes in class B with Maestro 1600's and 2000 ltrs. Andy said that despite the extra weight the cars length actually gives it more stability.

Despite the disadvantage Andy still managed a 3rd place finish in Class B which is a testament to the car and to Andy.

The 70's stuff is another race series who just happened to race on the same day as us.

Next race Pembrey on the 15th and 16th of April, a double header with some great racing and great view points.

The estate also has some advantages in the regulations, such as being allowed to replace the rear 3 windows with perspex, and run on 15in wheels instead of the 14in wheels the Maestros use. Andy Campbell's a very quick driver, and a very good car builder, so I'd expect anything of his to be fast. The estate didn't disappoint! He was weaving on the warm-up laps to get some heat into the tyres, a little too enthusiastically approaching the grid, hence the sideways moment

The other historic series that were out belong to the Classic Touring Car Club and happened, as Phil says, to be on the same billing. Next time out at Pembrey there will be 2CVs (don't laugh, they provide great racing!), sports/saloons and TRUCKS! Snetterton will be plenty of Caterhams, MGOC and the 2CV 24 hour race. If anyone's up for camping, this would be a good meeting to go to.
