I plan to attend this year also.

Not had mine or my new membership card yet, iam sitting here and wondering why?
Maria
3rd March 2006, 15:30
The BL Rally forms are sent out by the rally organiser and nothing to do with the club. If you send them a form and attend in any given year, you automatically get the forms the next year.
As for membership cards, PM Skatiechick as she's the membership sec.

I'll be there on the MG 'M' Group stand. I am taking my MG Maestro Turbo this year. Driving up on the day and meeting some MG Metro owners on the way for a bit of a convoy.

You can turn up and pay on the gate and you can arrive when you want! It's all quite relaxed.
I am just leaving now - from Bristol.

my dad and myself were thinking about coming down in "ella" .. however..
some early morning wiring lead to me having a pale face for a while ..
to anyone wiring rear speakers in.. the purple + purple and white arnt the speaker wiring , its the blue ones..
otherwise you get burnt out speakers.. lots of embarrasment and mick tacking .. and a boot of smoke!

Been back home about a hour. The miniMetro didn't miss a beat even though it was a little more loud than usual, due to a loose tappet!
We (the Missus and I) had a good day, nice to kick tyres with fellow Maestro nuts, chit-chat and catch up. In my opinion the Autojumble was below the usual standard. I did pick up some manuals though.
My car attracted quite a bit of attention from fellow club members and passers by, commenting on how good it was. I think it looks good from a distance of about 3 miles!
We also had the, now becoming traditional, drive around the field in other peoples cars. It's always nice to have a quick drive in something else.
Looking forward to next year already, hopefully i'll be able to take two of my growing fleet, with any luck i'll get a Maestro road worthy.
Dean.

I got back about 21:15 - dire roadworks on the M1 again, so we made a detour via the M18 and through the Rotherham backroads. Had road-burn by the time we got to Tankersley, but going across the Woodhead Pass was a breeze in my car after it received new tyres, and has generally performed faultlessly!
Good weekend, although I don't think it was as good as last year, personally... As usual, it was great to see friends again and also meet some new faces.

I attended as a non-member (no, I mean I wasn't a member, not that I haven't....) in my recently aquired Tandy Camper. I've been to shows in my Triumph, but it was quite different with such a modern car! And at £3 you can't complain. I parked in the general parking area, had a wander, when my other love (ugh!) came and found me and said that this very nice couple had said that we should park next to theirs....
That 100yard drive cost me £14! D'oh! Yep, I signed up. Well, Lisa did, it was her idea, I just had to pay.
Bought a couple of bits. Best bargain? Joining the club, but seriously, brand new complete near-side wing mirror £1.
Yes, we had a good day and it was nice to meet a crowd of fellow 'enthusiasts', who made us all welcome. Thank you

Well, we made it down on Saturday just in time for the Hog Roast :D
The queue looked like it had just formed, so we had enough time to put up the trailer and organise ourselves before joining the line.
It was good to bump into the regulars, as well as meeting Clive (white W+P kitted efi) as well as a few others I hadn't met before.
It was good finally to put a face to the famous John O, and managed to find a fuel flow transducer for him in the jumble.
Sunday was a greated with a good turnout, with M&MOC and MGM cars on display, as well as a few cars scattered amongst the other stands, but I must agree with other views, that it seemed a little lacking compared with previous BL days.
My Bargains of the weekend were:
New carb vent valve for my turbo, a new boxed yellow MG Maestro by Corgi,
a new digi dash internals with LCD displays (for Sean) bought for a fiver, a new drive flanged for my TD and ...
Two (yes two) brand new ADU 8479 Montego/Maestro Turbo ignition ECUs !!!, kindly having been tested on the Black Maestro turbo shortly after being bought.
The ECUs were actually 2nd to my best bargain, and greatest appreciation to Jeff Turbo for bringing me 2 free tow bars for my Monties !
Cheers Jeff.
As previous years, there was a great selection of most models made, and a good selection of Mettys too, all topped off by the cars kindly 'allowing' their owners to accompany them to the show. ;)
Mal.

Had a great time, good to put faces to some famous names such as MG Mal...you know what Mal, the theiving bar-steward took two brown ones off me for that fuel-flow transducer, and he wasn't for bartering a penny either...must've decided that since it was attracting so much attention (there were of course at least two people who asked the price...) that it was worth an extra fiver on the price he quoted to you :banghead: ;)
I cannot let it go unmentioned regarding how indebted I am to those who made me so welcome at the campsite too, especially Steve & David Worsley without whom I would not have been there, and also Tony Hague and his family for keeping the brews coming...Vicky you are a star and your teas are
Thanks again, all :)

Another good show! It was great to see so many different cars, and so many Maestros & Montegos turned up again. I was especially surprised to see another Tandy van – and with a pop-up roof too!
From what I saw the Autojumble was as good as always, however I was good this year and only looked and left my wallet in the car!
The heat made it a bit hard to get around and say hello to everyone and look at every car – the shade under the gazebo was just too inviting. Good to see some new faces amongst all the usual suspects!
:)

Somehow, the sun always manages to shine in Peterborough. Thanks to those who came over and said hello to "Widget" our rally Allegro. Sorry I couldn't be on the stand much of the time.
I've put a few of my own pictures in the gallery (http://www.maestro.org.uk/pp_gallery/showgallery.php?cat=551). I haven't taken many this year, otherwise you'd probably find they all look just like last year's set! Did anyone else get any photos we can use in a report on the weekend?

Jonathan - cool - proper choice of rally car! But I guess it has got the wrong steering wheel and engine in it ;) Actually, I'd rather drive that down there then a Jag with soon-to-go clutch... I am looking forward to meet you in Calais (or later on the event!)

Yes a good day was had by all. We were busy on the MG 'M' Group stand with 12 Metros, Maestros and Montegos plus Jason's ZT-T and Mal's MGB GT at the back.

Here's my MG Maestro Turbo - which covered an admirable 342 miles in one day whisking me from Bristol to Peterborough and back whilst averaging approximately 35mpg :)

The Metro engine and steering wheel are a bonus but even so, I'm dreading some of the passes...

I guess it depends on the condition of our clutch... I must say that the 1500 E-series was quite good in the alps, as it did not need to be revved. We simply seemed to have a problem with the head gasket or a crack in the head on that engine - when revved it pressed out some coolant, e.g. at speeds higher then 70 on motorways. But I did drive it all over the Alps without really loosing coolant in noticeable amounts.
The quartic wheel is a different story on pass roads though :)
But with the Metro gearing, I guess you'll hardly get out of 2nd gear on most passes...
Anyway, it's getting OT... Looking forward to that rally, even if I already know that I will miss my little daughter all these days!
Regards,
Alexander
