I have just become the proud owner of a Tandy camper based on the 500 L van with the Perkins Prima non turbo engine. What I like to do with all my newly acquired vehicles is to change oil and coolant and all the filters. What I am finding is great difficulty locating oil, air, and fuel filters listed for this particular vehicle although Halfords lists filters for LDV 200 vans which look remarkably similar. Would I be right in assuming this or could somebody lead me in the right direction ?

Hi Peter,
Congratulations on your purchase! I'd say it's a safe bet that the filters for the LDV 200 will fit your Maestro,as they share the same engine. The only difference is,in the Maestro the engine is transverse and in the LDV it's in-line.
I'm surprised your having difficulty in finding filters listed for the Maestro,as my local spares shop still lists them......well, at least he did until fairly recently.
Happy camping,
Craig.:)

Congratulations on your purchase. You are in good company here, as I believe there are a couple of other members on here that also own Tandy Campervans.
Infact, if you check out the Gallery and look in some folders for recent car shows, you should be able to find some pictures of them.

Yay! Another camper van owner (I have one too). I've never had any problems finding service parts. Might be worth trying another motor factor. I hope you and the van will join us at a show this year.

I've never had problems with service parts either. One thing to note on the vans is that the wheels and brakes have a different PCD (distance between bolt holes) and there are differences with the brakes themselves.
As far as the filter in concerned, if it's the large barrel shaped one then they are quite common and used, I believe, on the MG versions. In fact, you may be able to find a performance foam filter on eBay which you can just clean from time to time.
Check threads before doing any major work on it as there is a wealth of information from fellow diesel owners on here. They've saved me a lot of hassle over my 3 years of Maestro ownership.

Go to Partco or unipart, they will be on the shelf.
Halfrauds are a rip off and you have to spend ages looking through their book to get the numbers, then search for numbers on boxes yourself!

Thank you all for your help.
I have done some extensive research on the internet and I found what I think are the right filters along with all the vehicles they fit. For oil filters try http://www.webparts.co.uk/ETL/Buyguide/HTML/EOF026.HTM , for air filters try http://www.webparts.co.uk/ETL/Buyguide/HTML/EAF028.HTM , and fuel filters http://www.webparts.co.uk/ETL/Buyguide/HTML/EFF007.HTM.
You are all obviously very passionate about these vehicles and I hope my relationship with my Tandy will be a good one.

Halfrauds are not always a rip off - the other week I went in there to see what their prices were like on brake shoes and came away with an axle set for £3.18!! They're selling them off in a sale. I thought about buying the entire shelf and re-selling on eBay but decided I couldn't be bothered.
