So when the bodywork's done what engine you going for?
Have you thought about a t16 conversion?

Nah, I was thinking more along the lines of a VTEC V6! I was at a salvage yard once and looked under the bonnet of a Rover 827. I got my tape measure out and thought: Hmm, that would fit!

Glad to see the work is coming on well ATV :) if you think the 827 motor will fit in your van have you thought about throwing in the 800 Vitesse Turbo lump in? much more scope for power mods mate and with a weight advantage in the van there wouldn't be much that would come anywhere near it!

The Honda engine is NOT a VTEC. Still quick when fitted into the 800 and would make a very sweet sounding Maestro or Montego..

The T series isn't as tunable as you would think. To get lots more power from the standard lump requires some serious £££££. You have to stay within the safety limits of the pistons, which on early engines was 13-14psi and later ones after 1996 and all 620ti's the limit is 12psi. On both engines however its pointless going above 12psi unless you have a large front mounted intercooler or chargecooler OR water injection. The pistons are so weak (Mahle and A.E) that its not worth taking chances. Staying within these safety parameters will mean about 230bhp. Ample for most people, not enough for me!

Aha! Very interesting information there. Knowledge really is power!
Still, I'll have to get the sills and chassis cleaned up before I think more about the engine anyway. Thanks for all the info chaps!:D

Right then, I've got to the piont of cleaning up the underside, and I was wondering about the easiest way of cleaning and protecting the nooks and crannies alongside the chassis "rails". I suppose the only way would be to brush out the grime and spray some Waxoyl up there, but by what I have read, it will soon run down again. Any ideas?
