Stupid question, but where's the horn?

There's one in there somewhere, 'cos I can hear it.

According to the Haynes book, you take off the front grill and there it is! Errr... not on mine it isn't ;) ...unless it's camoflaged in some way!

Any ideas?

Early cars had it behind the grille. Yours will be located inside the front wing. I can't remember which side, but if you lie infront of the front tyre and look upwards into the cavity behind the front wing - you will find it there!

Yeh, only the very early cars (1983) had them behind the grille. 1984-on cars had the horn located under the near side front wing. If you're very clever you can fit a decent two-tone horn under there to replace the weedy original one!

There's an interesting thought - don't think I've ever tried mine!

Excellent, that's the one place I didn't look!

I'm replacing it with some twin-tone air horns, oh yeah!

Not sure there will be enough room under there for them!? The beefy Montego twin-tone ones fit a treat though...

Was planning on fitting them in the engine bay - there's a spare bracket just behind the battery that'll do nicely.

All very interesting....as I will soon be fitting 5 (yes 5) horns and a compressor for the Scummball Rally General Lee Maestro dixie tune! I propose to keep the original horn though for making it legal and fitting the dixie horn with a button which is semi-concealed low down on the righ tof the dash.

Yeeeeeeeee haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Oh no, my mate has those in his Capri - be careful of the relay, as it can do a very good job of sticking on, as we found out whilst driving across the New Forest one day:eek: Gets a bit tiresome after a few minutes.....

i've got air horns on my Mini, and they get stuck on when the relay gets hot! not much fun when your paying for petrol at the M6 serivces while your cars having a hissy fit on the forecourt!
