I have just aquired an old 'B' reg Monty is very good condition in my views but I want to give the engine a complete overhaul.
I am not sure what grade of oil to use put in the engine for best results.
:banghead:
I am also searching for further info on the small oil reservoir located in the middle of the air filter housing. What is this actually for and what do I use to top it up with.
This is my first Montego project and I want to ensure that the engine runs perfectly before removal.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Rob.

The "oil reservoir" in the centre of the air filter is the carburettor dashpot. If this is not full enough then it will affect performance by a greater amount than you would imagine! Top this up to the level of the top of the hollow rod with either 10W40 engine oil or - some reccomend - automatic transmission fluid. I generally use engine oil and it is fine. For no good reason, the level drops over about a month or so - top up regularly.
