When re-wiring the radio in my car today. Myself and Rich (e692wtt) found this masterpiece of 'Electrical Bodgery' after he foolishly offered to re wire it up for me. Just take a look at the miles of duct tape used to join the wires together. And in case you were wondering...it is possible to join three separate wires into one with simply a bit of tape! The white wire at the bottom left of the picture was wrapped round one of the battery terminals to provide power. It was quite shocking to see!!!!
Thankfully it all has now been replaced with a much safer (and professional) bodge. (Thanks Rich! :) )

I hate to see electrical bodges like this, they can start fires! Anyone who knows me and my car knows the care I take over installing electrical bits and bobs, and wherever possible I always use the correct multi connectors and wiring colours.
I've seen some frightening DIY and so-called professional car audio and alarm bodges in my time. Why do people do this??
Lucky escape!

That looks positively professional compared with the bodge that a certain Alfa Romeo Dealer did behind the dash of a mates car. Look there is even tape on the photo above. The Alfa dealers didn't even bother with such extravagances. It was really shocking, and my electrical wiring has never been considered pretty by anyones standards - but at least it's safe. There was even the charred remains of the wiring they had to bypass and of course it was still live.. Cowboys.

Ask Richard to show you the photo 'sans' tape... not good.
Got it sorted fairly quickly using (shock) block connectors. As I said to him, such repairs are quick and satisfying, as they are immediately visible (I got more of the dash lighting up as well - but not via new connections to the radio/stereo) or audible to the driver every time he/she drives.
I'm a bit of a bodge merchant, but this, quite frankly, is beyond my experience... imagine my surprise on removing the radio/stereo - a wonderful audio world is available, based on stereo reproduction from the left front speaker output through all four speakers... via the offside rear -ve as an earth... all this can be yours.... ask 'the previous owner...' errm... no, I'm errm... speechless...?
A few more jobs needed, but it's a damn sound car.
The other other Rich.

some people seem to think its ok to cover wires in electrical tape and leave them dangling behind the dashboard as long as everything looks okay and works from the front. As it has been said - these bodges can so easily start fires. Thankfully, theres no chance of that in my car now!
