Hi peeps, well after easily narrowing down the failure of the reversing lights on my MG Maesty I came to the conclusion it was the switch that had actually decided it didn't want to work anymore :( so is the reversing lights switch on the gearbox for the 2.0 efi the same for all sizes of engine or does it have to be off an MG?
Also, does anyone have a working one I could purchase?
Cheers
Paul :)

I think the gearboxes on all the 2.0 petrol models are the same casing-wise (different internals though, from model to model) so a 'reverse light switch' off any 2.0 petrol model should do. They're a Honda gearbox so mebbe the switch off a Mark II Montego 1.6 (also Honda 'box, as opposed to the VW 'box on the 1.3 and 1.6 Mark I) might fit? Dunno about the Diesel 'boxes though.
Are you sure it's not just a faulty wiring connection to the top of the switch? On my 1.6 there is a 'switch cover' that looks like a rigid piece of plastic (over the switch on the 'box), but the wires are loose within it and if the 'cover' is just refitted the reverse lights won't work - the connectors need fixing individually to the terminals before fitting the 'switch cover'.
