Indefinate if you never use it... Are you think of buying a 50 year old pump for your car off Ebay?

ive got one spare one already. (made in 1999 i think).
i was just contemplating if i should invest in one for a 2.0 modle for future use off ebay (if one comes up). I was thinking that maybe these parts might stop being made in the future. I havnt actually got a 2.0 yet but in the future im getting one to go along side my 1.3. id like one of those 2.0 cars thats on at the moment but i havnt got anywhere to put it off road.
Does anyone know what the story is with 'SMC trading' on ebay? how are they getting rover parts so cheaply that they can afford to sell a waterpump for a fiver? and can the club go down the same route? they seem to be selling everything.
I saw a pair of mg mud flaps go for well over £20 im sure, and they still have them at rover for cheaper than that (i think) they've definitely got the ones for the normal austin/rover cars in stock cos i got some from my local place for somewhere around £16

SMC get loads of job lots of stock from closing down garages and the like, so they make a profit on whatever they sell. They're a very good company and I've got a number of parts off them.
The club does go down this route sometimes - we get offered job lots of parts, and if we think they're worth picking up, we do so.

I have bought a few bits and pieces (including a water pump) from SMC and, as Maria says, they are fine. In fact, they are better than fine, they are very fast and efficient. They do charge a lot for postage though, in my humble opinion.
