Had the front wheels off our Maestro TD 1993 yesterday and found when taking the wheel trim of one wheel a nasty dent on the outside outer rim and the tyre bruised and slightly cut on the sidewall next to the dent.
Have made it the spare for the moment but my questions are firstly how could this occur without the wheel trim also taking damage as it would be the first to hit anything.
If I have to get a replacement from a scrappie does anyone know if there are different sized rims for different model Maestros.
The tyre size is 175/70 TR14 84T

As far as I am aware, any 14" steel rim from a Monty or Maestro will do as all 14" steel rims are the same.(but not early cars fitted with metric rims)

Also, the standard 14" steel rim was issued as the "spare" wheel on all Mk1 MGF's(unless owner paid for a spare alloy rim)

Thanks Mal very useful to know this if I have to have a replacement wheel. Will take it this week to my tyre dealer and ask him to remove the tyre to see if there is any internal damage to the tyre and ask his advice on the rim.

Took the wheel into my usual tyre dealer and he took the tyre off to make sure there was no internal damage and straightened the rim.
Rebalanced and refitted and he made no charge. "You keep buying tyres from me so I look after my customers."
A nice bit of old fashioned service and very welcome.
I always use Toyo's on both our cars and he is a main stockist.
Hopton Tyres, Marchington, Staffs if anyone is interested.

I had a dented rim a few years ago and the tyre wouldn't seal against it. local tyre depot put an inner tube inside the tyre and it's still there!
