hi guys,
i was browsing through a different forum this afternoon, and all the general topics disappeared. the users couldn't post or do anything. the cause, according to them was a 'forum fire'
has anyone here heard of this? they say it just happens and you lose all the threads in the area it affects. their general chat has been wiped completely.
they get it quite often it seems.
any thoughts?

New one on me, and I've been around and about various forums for about 5 years now.

i must admit this was the first forum i've ever been on, but as i said they seem to have this problem quite often.
i went back to it after posting this thread, and its closed while the administrator repairs the damage!
it sounds to me like a form of virus.
i hope it doesn't happen on here, it would be a shame to lose all our jokes and things!
they have got to start from scratch.:banghead:

Or it sounds like the membership has been overrun with flamers/spammers and it's had to be shut down and the offending stuff removed.
"Forum fires" sounds like a bit of a smokescreen to me, if you'll excuse the pun!

good morning all!
i've just been on the other forum, and everythings back to normal.
according to the administrator they ran out of space! (sounds like he doesn't really know how to run a forum!)
anyway they have got all their threads back, and its fine apart from the members themselves who are all a bit confused.(it is an american forum)

we have major hassles on it now!
for 3 days i couldn't post or even view the threads that were on it,that was september 9th, even now when you post it says an error ocurred, but when you go back to the thread, its there. our post count doesn't go up and we can't use the pm system.
thats what happens when you have 1 person trying to run a forum single handed.

You seem to be going for some sort of record for the most ancient thread dredged up from the depths!

Ná, I'll beat that... Only kidding.
There is a lot of useful archived stuff on the old Forum, shame we can't reply to those...:horror:
Personally, I try to keep up to date with the current Posts and reply as and when needed to fairly-current issues (although this plan had recently gone belly-up with the demise of the old pc,I'm back online again now, obviously... - ain't Broadband brilliant?).
Now then, what's the oldest Post I can reply to?
