Can anyone tell me if Parkway services at Ledbury are still keeping Maestro spares.
I need a steel rear bumper for a Diesel Turbo and searched back for their telephone number from an earlier thread. (Mick 01531 636252).
Bought one at the time from a local scrappie but this has began to disintegrate also.

Yep, they are. I spoke to Mick last week about some parts for my Maestro and he still has stock. Give him a ring and arrange a weekday that you can visit.

Thanks for the quick response and I presume I have the right tel number.
I live a good way from him but will be worth it if he has one and the price is OK.
Do you know if there is just one type of steel bumper for the the Maestro? or are there variants.

Nope, there is only one type of Steel bumper.

I can recomend buying a new front bumper too, and a new set of plastic end caps which he can also provide. It will transform the look of your car.

Yeah that's right:

Contact details:- Mick :- 01531 636252

Directions:-
Take J2 off the M50 and drive towards Ledbury. You're looking for a Murco filling station on the left hand side about 3 miles from the M50 junction.

As far as I know the maestro saloon only had one kind of steel bumper, hopefully Mick has some left! I'm off there myself soon to get some suspension and driveshafts.

Thanks to both of you and will give him a ring.
Well worth giving the car a good tidy up as its been a brilliant motor.
Bought it new in 1993 and has never given any problems at all.
Replaced the lift pump a few months ago as it was weeping and got an excellent one from Albert Looms scrappy near Derby. (Well recommended)
Still only 85K on the clock and the Perkins engine gets even better with age.
Only one exhaust... two alternators. two wheel cylinders a month ago..
Eighteen months from new the battery went dead.. Replaced under extended warranty with a new one by Rover. Recall saying to the mechanic that I wasnt impressed with Unipart ? batteries and he said sometimes they are great and other times not.
Well the replacement was great as its still the same one after almost 11 years and keep expecting it to give up the ghost every year. Probably shouldnt have mentioned that as its sod's law that it will now.

just a thought peeps....if the bumper has rust holes in it fairy nuff....get a newun nut my bumpers on my ledbury were peppers with rust spots....i simply rubbed it all down, got the wire brush on the drill..took them both back to bare metal..primered um several times....then 3 coats of satin black paint and they look like new.. then 2 good coats in side the bumper of underseal..

i need a new rear bumper for ledders in the next year or so because themetal near the rear number plate light is getting a little thin...

have thay got any battery platforms at ledbury?

No Ben its beyond that. As stated previously I fitted one from a scrappie which looked OK and angle ground all the rust off and did as you described.
However the rust gremlin had thinned the netal and is now like tissue paper.
As its the car my wife drives I also have the safety issue in mind as it would offer no protection in the event of a bump at the rear.

The rear bumper on the Maestro is easy to get off but when I was checking fluid levels etc today I was looking at how the front one comes off. (steel ones)
I could see no access for the main bolts and also how do get to the corner pieces retaining screws to remove them.

The front bumper is held on by four nuts, two on each side of the car. Its fairly hard to describe, but look underneath the battery tray. You should see an earth point, where a few wires are attached to the body of the car. Nearby there should be two nuts, one pretty much underneath the battery tray, and the other forward of this, on the same level. The second one is closer to the front of the car and pretty hard to get at. I can't even remember if it’s easy to see, let alone get to with a ratchet to undo. The two screws on the other side are naturally in the same place. Undo all four and the bumper will slide out of the car.

The plastic end caps are secured by one screw through the wing. To get to them you need to lie on your back and look up the inside of the wing, you will see a small nut. Undo this and the end cap can be removed.

Thanks for your reply.
Will have a look tomorrow. I half expected that you had to remove the top panel above the radiator or even the rad itself.

All geared up for the trip this morning and rang Mick at 9.00am to check if he had a rear steel bumper. "No only front ones left"
has the corner pieces but no bumper.
Had a chat with him and seems a very nice bloke. He said to think if there were any other parts I needed as he was running down in stock. He told me generally what he had but nothing I could think of which I needed.
Perhaps others should be thinking of anything they need before its to late.
