engine missfire/splutter

can anyone tell me what could be wrong with my 2.0 efi. heres the symptoms the car starts fine and revs freely up to about 5000 revs but then struggles and splutters as if its holding back.
any help appreciated :idea:

Have you changed the fuel filter recently? That would be my first option. Then perhaps the HT leads and plugs and rotor arm etc before moving onto more complicated things.

yep i think i may give it a full service then see what its like. i no it has not been run for some time so this may be all it needs just wonderd if it could be anything else :confused:

If it hasn't been run for a while then the fuel might have "gone off" too. A good dose of optimax should freshen it up a bit.
