My car has developed alot of "Backfire" popping .. and weird rattley , grinding noises on release of the throttle..

Only thing i have noticed is my fuel consumption is less.. and the engine returns to almost no choke straight after start up ..

the backfiring and poping , may seem more obvious because of the
exhaust [ (s) plural] but im sure its getting worse..

help Appreciated...

graham

Main bearings? Or something less sinister like a broken engine mount allowing movement, exhaust catching etc.
Check your exhaust isn't holed, failing that the condtion of your ignition system and air filter for the backfire popping. (If you have a big bore exhaust, it's relatively normal tho)

Probaly where your new exhaust fouls it :D

Its not unusual for the standard exhausts to foul the rear axle when fitted slightly wrong so it is worth a look.

Which reminds me I must adjust mine to stop it fouling on the antiroll bar at the front. it makes a dreadful noise.
