finally, :woohoo: i shall be back on the race track following a disasterous trip to France. New car number 19, Doug Coles race winning car 2nd in the Championship in 2004, will be out at Lydden on the 10th September and then Oulton at the back end of September.

My old car will be raced at Oulton by an Army bloke, and no doubt it will continue to sport the www.maestro.org.uk web address across the windscreen.

Hi Chris,

New engine good compression with better straight line speed, i was out on the Friday before the weekends racing getting to see how the car performed. I have a good morning practise and was ready for a better afternoon session. On the final lap in the afternoon i was trying out different gear changes in the hairpin complex at Crois en Ternois and over rev'd the engine bending a valve.

Took the engine apart, replaced the bent valve and whilst trying to get it going again, bent the other valves.

We spent six hours tryng to fix it, in the end i went home without a race.

In the end, to get my car to the same spec as Dougs would cost me £1,000, so better i bought his ready to go and proven.

Just a reminder for some support, the new look car 19 will be out on track at Lydden. The new car is the ex-Doug Cole race winning car as i sold my old car and Dougs has all the bits and the decent race engine!

Look forward to seeing some of you

Can you let us have a list of remaining race meets? We'll arrange to come and give you some support later in the year as a formal social event.

I really enjoyed the race meet at Mallory Park, but unfortunately I'm still suffering from sensitive skin, with an hour in the sun tanning me well and any more burning me to a crisp :o . Good quality racing though  .

Hi Rich, be good to get a crowd together. Lydden is this saturday and the last race of the year is Oulton park on the 24th. I will be out testing on the friday afternoon as well.

Our MG1600 will be out at Oulton too (would be rude not to, living 6 miles away!) and hoping to make up for Brands.

I think Oulton could be a distinct possibility!

I've never been to this circuit before and it's supposed to be good... especially for us photographers.

Lydden Hill.

what a race! :toothy:

carnage everywhere, i think there must have been just two or three cars that got away without any kind of damage. It was more like a stock car race. Nevertheless i managed to get my highest finish this year with a respectable 6th in class and 12th overall.

It was my first time out in the car and the first time i had put the car into second gear (i had only driven it on and off the trailer before lydden). It was a superb car, ran very well and was only a couple of seconds behind the leaders.

I am really looking forward to Oulton as the car can stretch it legs a bit and really show some of the speed it is capable of. My target for Lydden is now a top five finish in class and a top eight overall which will end the season nicely. :driver:
