Wow!

What a great day! An execellent day and great weather too (sunburnt again!). Great to see the regulars again and new faces too.

A very good display of all Austin cars of all shapes and sizes, with a good autojumble too. The highlight for me was the bumper cars!!!

A very worthwhile event, if a little disorganised, sahme I couldn't be there all weekend :(

Hope the rest of you have an enjoyable Sunday, can't wait for BL Rally!

Glad you enjoyed the day Dean, I recon Sunday has been even hotter.
Even though we didn't go bumping today :toothy:

It was absolutely fantastic with a whole load of brilliant cars. Our stand, although cramped was a first class display and yes, the bumper cars were teriffic fun and very bumpy (I've got the bruises on my knees to prove it!).

The post show social get-together was very enjoyable too. I really should buy myself a tent!

However I got caught up in the security alert coming away from Longbridge on Saturday night. All roads into the city centre from the A38 ring road were blocked off and there were loads of disorientated people. 20,000 people were evacuated from the city centre. I had a brainwave and escaped via the A34 to Shirley and hence onto the M40 to pick up the M6 so I wasn't inconvenienced too much but I was hanging around in traffic jams for about an hour and a half. A bit scary really...

I must say that I'm usually impressed with the amount of miles I can get out of a tank of diesel in the Countryman but the HL did a 400 odd miles round trip and still has quarter of a tank left! I'm pretty impressed by that!

Looking forward to BL day! I've just got to choose what to bring!

One word: Fantastic! I really enjoyed seeing so many of you, especially those I'd not met before. Thank you all for coming along and supporting our club, the cars and most importantly of course the cause of Austin and Longbridge.

There were perhaps a few things that could have been organised better although I think many of us had built up very high expectations of the event after 4 years planning. The last-minute loss of support/funding from MG Rover didn't help matters one bit. I'll certainly be passing on our thanks to the committee behind the celebrations who I know put in a huge amount of time and effort often with little reward, because overall it was a fitting and memorable celebration.

Please add your photos to the gallery. Mine will follow, I've still got a couple of hundred to sort through...

Oh and, I'm never going near Redditch again!! There are still people driving around there lost from 20 years ago.

Yep, that was a fantastic weekend! Great show, great weather, great cars, great people, and I enjoyed every minute! It was good to finally put faces to names, even if I have some way to go to match every car/name/face/forum username. Shame the organisation wasn't 100%, but I felt it was an excellent event despite that. The turnout in general was stunning, and special thanks to all the MMOCers who made our stand so impressive.

Muddle did the journey there and back on less than half a tank, even towing the race car, and the brakes only squealed on the way back when they were surprised by sudden heavy braking. Clutch was fine too. He's a good boy :)

Glad to hear you all got home safely,if a little slowly.I only attended on Saturday but i enjoyed it all the same.Appologies for not being as sociable as i'd have liked,i was a little under the weather(you may have noticed my face looked like it was going to explode!) :D
It was nice to see some new faces and the old ones,of course! Just have to try to remember them all now.A big thankyou to everyone involved in organising this event and to Dan,for the 'vp' wheel trim decals.
Can't wait for BL day,i should feel better by then.

p.s. What's wrong with Redditch.....i grew up there! Pherhaps i've just answered my own question! :banghead:

Yes you did look a little on the warm side :D

I hope you like the VP wheel badges. Although not absolutly perfect they are much better than worn originals and easier to keep clean too. If anyone wants some then let me know. Lindz's VP was wearing them if anyone wanted to see how good they were.

On my way back I picked up a new gearbox for my van from Biglad who i'm now indebted to. All in all a great weekend albeit a VERY VERY tiring one.

Alex. You are lying :nonono: Your car was car of the show for me, well, the 4litre r on the rostyle wheels was, mind you the two big farina estates were quite something too. And the turnout of the Maxi's was impressive too along with the 1800's including 3 rally cars and the australian Kimberly and the pick-up. Then there were the bumper cars....................yep.....a good weekend that was........
Any way......what was every one elses car of the show? I know mine and, sorry alex but it has to be the 4litreR on the rostyles. It was just cooooooooooooooool.
Anyone else?

It was nice to see you again Alex, look forward to seeing your Maestro at BL day.

Thanks, I am very much looking forward to the BL-day. I've been there since the 3rd BL-day, although I missed one or two years. It is my favourite show so far.

I started work on my Maestro, it now runs on petrol again :) Although I actually don't really want to run it on petrol, LPG is currently al 26p for me...
