Hi!

My father's MG EFi has got the ECU with the number ADU9431. Can this be replaced with ADU9336? And what would be the difference?

Regards,

Alexander

ADU 9336 is the common ECU for leaded fuel EFis. Don't know the difference between all of them though.

Hi, The ECU does not appear to be a UK spec part number. The ADU 9336 is as already stated the Uk leaded ECU with NNN 10016 being the UK unleaded version. My thoughts are that the ECU you have could be a version for a European country (poss. Swiss) spec MG and will have slightly different advance characteristics, probably less vacuum advance and reduced engine speed advance to reduce oxides of nitrogen emissions.

The ADU 9336 should make the engine a bit more lively (may experience slight pinking on low octane unleaded) but if there are strict emissions legislation where your father is it might fail a NOX test.

Sorry this is all a bit conjecture, but hope it helps.

Cheers Gary :)

Ok, thanks so far. The unit in question is on offer from the remains of a German Rover garage. The car in question is a German spec 1986 MG EFi. The MG was sold as 'leaded only', but Rover acknowledged that ALL MG Maestro EFi sold in German can be run in 95 octane unleaded without alterations. In fact we have even been using this MG to get rid of old petrol other cars did not like to run on - the knock sensor obviously helped to change the ignition point so far, that no pinking did occur ever.

So I guess the unit in question will fit the car and make a good spare to have on the shelf (for about 15 quid brand new... :) )

Hi, Yes and it may turn out to be a useful & cheap performance upgrade :) Put it on and give it a try for week or so, could even return beter MPG. ;)

Cheers gary :)

Hmm, we cannot complain about mpg and power delivery. The car does 5400 rpm in 5th - when the speedo goes off the scale, I guess it's a bit more then the number in the documents. And it is astonishing good on mpg - about the same as my Rover 216 from 1991 (8-8.5 l/100km when travelling with speeds between 80 and 90mph). But I'll buy it, since the car is good for a few more miles (currently 220,000+) :)

The ECU arrived - nice in the original box and of course brand new, all for less then 20 quid incl P&P :)
I've now been offered a few more bits, and with two of them I need your help again:
Which waterpump is GWP 155?
Which fuel ECU is AUU 1313N?

Thanks,

Alexander

Hi, AUU 1313N is 2.0 fuel injection ECU, the N stands for new as apposed to AUU 1313E which is exchange meaning reconditioned.

GWP155 pump is for early cars 1984-85, with the short straight water outlet pipe.
