Could someone please remind me how the rear doors fit on Maestros regarding the spacers needed top to bottom. I can get the door to close without the seal in place but not when fitted. This is for the o/s rear door. Thanks!

So far as I remember when I changed my rear doors, I used the spacers which were originally on them from the previous car.
I found that a slight movement on the hinges adjustment, made big changes when closing it. So what I did in the end, was got the bolts lose, but no so lose that the door was hanging on, just enough for it to still move. Then close the door so that it catches nicely on the lock. Open the front door, and tighten up the two bolts with a spanner which you can get to. Gently open the door, tighten all bolts up. Check by opeing and closing that the gap is good around the door. If the lock is still a little iffy, then then adjusting striker pin should take out any slight descrepencys, and make it all smooth.
BTW, I assume from this repairs are underway? :)

Due to the fact that M170 is solid and there are no rot holes to mention, coupled with me having a new tailgate and rear quarter in storage as spares, it would be a shame not to proceed with the repairs. I've been looking after the car for nearly 5 years now and breaking it really isn't an option. :)
I'll let y'all know how I get on tomorrow.

Excellent glad to hear things are going well.
Yes I use Rich's method for hanging doors too although I think with a suitable small extension bar you can get to all the bolts to tighten them up at least enough to stop it moving when you open the door again.
