Anyone ever heard of a maestro performing a huge bang in the middle silencer, emitting a large amount of flame and blowing the back end of the exhaust clean off? Get this... you have now!!!!

I put a little redex in the piston damper as usual, 5 mins later i started up, car ran rough.. then there was a huge bang. i lept out, looked under the car just in time to see flamed out the back of the exhaust, and then like a pressure cooker, the back end of the exhaust just flew off! Somehow, something got ignited in the exhaust, but redex isnt flamable, and small traces of oil wouldnt do that!?! Has someone been pouring petrol into my exhaust? Anyone ever had this happen? I must admit it took me by surprise, but looking at it now, its damn funny! The silencer has a huge hole in it now, but apart from that everything is running fine!

Redex is flammable, and isn't designed to be used in the piston damper. It happens when fuel gets sucked into exhaust then ignited by other hot exhaust gases.

perhaps the float stuck in the carb or the engine was flooded a bit. It happened to me on my bike when I was doing 70 (ish) and the engine cut in and out several times with the throttle open, which resulted in 10 ft of flames shooting out of the exhaust and the guy who was tailgating me got quite a shock. :)
